As part of the Global Week to Act for SDGs the PRME & Sustainability Steering Committee, ENACTUS ECU and the
Work-Integrated Learning Team held an event, Developing your Social Entrepreneurship Mindset, on campus on Tuesday 22 September 2020. The event was registered as an awareness-raising educational activity on the #act4SDGs site: https://www.act4sdgs.org/partner/sustainablesbl and despite being an on-campus event gained some international interest with at least one registration coming from The Netherlands.

The event featured a presentation on impact measurement from Daniel Mackey, Manager, Regenerative Business & Sustainability, Impact Seed which was followed up by a cross-sector panel discussion focussing on social entrepreneurship. The panellists were; Vicki Hodgson, Director Blow Your Own Mind, Michelle Rhodes, Director 360 Environmental Pty Ltd, Nashid Chowdhury, Economic Development Lead, City of Joondalup and Dr Mehran Nejati, Director of PRME and Sustainability, ECU School of Business and Law.
The event was attended by approximately 35 participants with a good mix of students, ECU staff and community members. Discussions were enriching and achieved the objective of raising awareness of and a commitment to act to help achieve the SDGs. A concrete outcome was the subsequent agreement by the Enactus ECU team to engage with the City of Joondalup to explore a project which could be done in partnership to achieve positive social and/or environmental outcomes for the community within the City. A follow-up visit was set for October 2020 when Enactus team members heard from the environmental and social planners from the City about gaps that need addressing.
