The Enactus Australia Nationals 2023 took place at Monash University in Melbourne. Enactus Edith Cowan University participated in the Nationals Showcase, highlighting their impactful project, Sustainability Festival. Led by their esteemed Faculty Adviser, a team of six dedicated members represented ECU at the competition.

The ECU team presented their Sustainability Festival Project, emphasizing its community impact and their success in uniting various sustainable organisations to educate the public. Although they did not clinch the overall victory, the team reached the Semi-final round and received recognition with two awards: the “Coca Cola Race to Rethink Plastic” award and “The Spirit of Australia” award, in honor of their outstanding project.

Enactus ECU maintained professionalism throughout the entire event, reflecting their commitment to excellence and decorum, same as they did the year before. This was evident in their meticulous attention to detail, including their appearance. Each member of the team was dressed in business attire, which not only underscored their dedication but also helped convey a cohesive and professional image to the judges and fellow competitors. This was instrumental in ensuring that they were perceived as serious contenders, reinforcing the team’s credibility and enhancing their overall impact during the competition. The choice of attire was not merely about aesthetics; it symbolised the team’s respect for the event, the importance of their project, and their dedication to representing Edith Cowan University with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

PRESENTATION

In advance of the competition, each team submitted a poster summarising their project, including its outcomes, community impact, and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Prior to their presentation, teams were also required to provide the judging panel with a copy of their Annual Report.

For the presentation, teams are allotted 12 minutes to present their project followed by a three-minute Q&A session where the team addresses questions from the judging panel. Enactus ECU consisted of three team members delivering the presentation, while the entire team participated in the Q&A, demonstrating their thorough understanding of the project.

The Enactus ECU team reached the semi-finals in the competition for their Sustainability Festival. They were also honoured with two additional trophies:
– The “Coca-Cola Plastics Challenge” for making a significant impact in their community by addressing the plastic problem
– The “Spirit of Enactus” trophy for upholding the high standards of both Enactus and their university.
